The Community Health Status Indicators (CHSI) Project was created in response to grassroots requests from local health officials for this type of health data at the local level. The CHSI project team has created 3,082 reports of health status indicators, one for each county in the nation. These reports are needed by local health officials since community health improvement begins with an assessment of needs, quantification of vulnerable populations, and measurement of preventable disease, disability, and death. Visit the CHSI web site. Review the PowerPoint presentation that is presented at this site. Then summarize in a one-page paper the types of data that are found in the county reports.
